Saint PetersbourgChasing the sun again, by going north!

However strange it might be, Scandinavia was having a wave of perfectly clear blue skies and with a surprisingly hot sun!

Stockholm was wonderful, with much warmer temperatures  than Paris.  Sunday took an overnight ferry to Tallinn, Estonia.  Tallinn is a true medieval jewel of the Baltics!

Enjoying the nordic culinary scene by indulging in the freshest of salmon, herring, lumpfish caviar and the incredible taste of reindeer.

absolutely delicious dark Estonian bread.  First time ever to taste sea buckthorn to flavor salads and ice cream.  rhubarb schnaps , homemade by the chef last night was a new and tantalizing treat too!

After Helsinki, will take another overnight ferry to Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Have wanted to visit Saint Petersburg for a long time, especially after reading  Leo

Tolstoy’s War and Peace

  1. You are so lucky Cherry. Hope you are having a wonderful time. Because of you, I decided to read War and Peace. I have never read any classics but I think it is time.

    1. Thank you Serena for your sweet comment. War and Peace was a heart wrenching love story that centered around the bourgeois society in Saint Petersburg, which was very francophile to the extent that French was the preferred language in their circles!
The english translation was over 800 pages!
      Saint Petersburg is truly magnificent!

  2. So happy you are having such a wonderful journey. Look forward to
learning more in the future … You go girl !

    1. Thank you Anne! Second day in the splendor of Saint Petersburg! Will elaborate more later. First time in Russia has allowed me to see so much more clearly into this culture that was always so intriguing to me. All is impressive.

  3. Now you are REALLY making me a little envious of your life in Europe with it’s rich history and culture . . . and it is all so relatively “compact” geographically. For many years I have promised to take my wife on an European vacation. She has made a couple of trips with her sister; but now I am eager for her to retire and for us to make that trip together. This rises to the top of my “bucket list”. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

    1. Thank you David. Many of us could easily have envy for the loving relationship in your life! Hope you don’t wait. Travel now! So much beauty and culture awaits you! Our little planet has so many treasures for our eyes to see! Surprise her!
